SEQUENCE
How an enquiry becomes a written quote
You send what you know: the suburb, the room, the work you have in mind and anything already going wrong. Missing detail is fine at this stage; it simply becomes the first question.
STEP TWO — MEASURED OR INSPECTED
Most jobs are looked at on site. Areas are measured properly, floors checked for flatness and fall, substrates checked for movement and moisture, and existing waterproofing assessed where any of it can be seen. Repairs get the same reading — the cause first, then the fix.
STEP THREE — THE WRITTEN SCOPE
The quote separates the job into the stages it is actually built in: preparation, waterproofing where the area is wet, setting out and tiling, then grouting and silicone. Inclusions and exclusions are written down rather than assumed, along with who supplies the tile, adhesive and trims.
STEP FOUR — QUESTIONS BEFORE WORK
Anything unresolved — a tile still undecided, a section of substrate that can only be judged once the old surface comes off — is raised and agreed before work starts, not discovered part-way through.
Adhesive can only correct so much. Beyond a few millimetres, the fix belongs to the stage before it.
SUBSTRATE · WHY SCOPE MOVES

Until an old floor is lifted or a wall sheet comes off, some of what sits behind it is an educated read rather than a certainty. A screed that looked sound can be hollow in one corner. A shower base can turn out to have no fall worth the name. Bathroom floors laid over timber move differently to floors laid over slab.
Where that risk exists, it is written into the quote as a clear condition instead of buried in a single figure — so if levelling, extra sheeting or a fresh membrane is needed, you already know how it will be priced and why it matters.
